UHAS: FIRST SRC OPEN FORUM SCHEDULED FOR FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 6, 2019 AFTER SRC ELECTION ‘COMPLICATIONS’

After a much complicated election process a few months back, the acting SRC executives have slated Friday September 6, 2019 for their first open forum with the student populace.

The SRC in a notice dated September 4, 2019 and signed by the acting federal secretary informed the student community of the plan to have the open forum on the said date with the theme “Speak up: getting answers to questions and moving forward together”.

Election Complications

The election process which started some months back never ended as many issues surrounded the process and some candidates involved. The ‘messy’ nature of the election process saw the Ho High court place an injunction on the process until matters brought to the court by one of the candidates against the school and the SRC were sorted. The case is still however in court and the election process still on hold.

Acting Executives

After the quite unfortunate turn out of the election process, acting SRC executives were appointed in the later days of May 2019 to man the affairs of the SRC office pending the resume of the election process.

The acting team of executives is being led by Mr. Harris. A. Richard (Ag. Federal President) a onetime Intelligence and students’ affairs committee chairperson, school fees committee chairperson and parliamentary vetting committee member.

Open Forum

The forum is being hosted by the acting SRC president Mr. Harris .A. Richard at the Trafalgar auditorium of the Ho campus and  Binka Hall of the Hohoe campus at 1700 hours GMT. The student populace has been charged to attend the programme in their numbers so they can register their concerns and/or issues, get answers to questions and help come out with solutions to issues with regards to students.

The freshmen will however miss the meeting as they are expected on Saturday 7th September, 2019.

This is the first of such forums with students and the newly appointed acting executives and the first for the academic year as school officially resumed last weekend.
