The Ghana Institution of Engineering chapter of the University of Energy and Natural Resources under the School of Engineering has launched its week celebration, yesterday 15th July, 2021 under the theme “Strengthening the Engineering Disciplines; the Future of the Student Engineer.”

Aside students, heads of departments and lecturers, the event brought together engineers who facilitated the seminar session.

Chaired by Ing. Prof. Dr. Nana Sarfo Agyeman Derkyi (Dean of Engineering, UENR), Ing. Peter Acquah (Area Manager, GRIDCO, Techinam), Ing. Meiwotso Kwame Zawor (Maintenance Engineer, Ghana Highways Authority, Bono Region) and Ing. Aziz Abu (Agric Engineer, Ahafo Region) were keynote speakers of the seminar.

A council of the student chapter of the GhIE comprising of various engineering departmental Presidents was also inaugurated by Ing. Dr. Emmanuel K. Nyantakyi (Bono, Bono-East and Ahafo Regions, GhIE). The constituted body will be the highest decision making body of the UENR Chapter.

Some ladies who represented the University in this year’s WinE Masterminds; a women technology innovation challenge at the University of Mines and Technology, Tarkwa were also honoured placing second in the national competition.
