Master Shadrack Osei Boateng, a twenty 23-year-old Bachelor of Science Mechanical Engineering student from the Nyanpkala Campus of the University for Development Studies was named Overall Best Graduating Student for the Class of 2020 on the 14th of November, 2020 during the graduation ceremony, held at the Multi-Purpose Auditorium at the Main Campus which saw President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as Special Guest of Honour.

In an exclusive interview with KuulpeepsUDS, he indicated he is an old student of the Kumasi High School where he completed in 2015. After his senior high school education he decided to choose UDS because he believed it is one of the best institutions despite the challenges student face sometimes.

On why he chose to pursue Mechanical Engineering, this was his response, “I chose Mechanical Engineering because I like to solve real-life problems and that’s what engineers do”

We sought to inquire from him how he also combined both studies, campus life and church to come out with such a remarkable CGPA and this was what he had to say, “My inspiration has always been from within.

A burning desire to help make an impact and leave an ineffaceable mark wherever I may find myself so that posterity can learn from. Combining studies, campus life and church was never easy but I tried to establish a balance by assigning time for every one of them and that is how I sailed through. I made every single minute valuable”.

His hobbies are to write and share quotes based on nature and the dynamics of life, listen to choral music and hymns and to read books of all kinds.

In the next decade, he simply wants to be one of the many people who would contribute their quota to making life much easier for everyone by doing his honest part to help solve real- life challenges. Career wise, he wants to be a control systems and mechatronics engineer as well as a teacher.

He graduated with the Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.94 from Bsc Mechanical Engineering (First Class Honours)
