The University of Cape Coast Debate Society qualifies to the next stage of the ongoing Pan African Universities Debate Championship after nine rounds of heated debate in the preliminary stages of the competition.

PAUDC-2020
The Pan-African Universities Debate Championship is the biggest annual inter-collegiate debate competition in Africa. This year’s PAUDC which was held virtually due to travel restrictions amongst other challenges caused by the covid 19 pandemic had over 40 colleges from all around the African continent representing in their numbers.

Ucc Debate Society
The Ucc Debate Society which presented two teams to represent the university has one of the teams represented by speakers Eugene David Dante, a fourth year B.COM Human Resource Management student and Nana Yaw Ofosu-Ababio, a first year B.COM accounting student progressing to the next phase of the competition alongside thirty-two other African teams out of the lot. Gertrude Konadu Owusu,a fourth year Bsc. English student who represented the university as a judge also qualified to the next phase of the debate competition.

Mr. Eugene David Dante, president of the society expressed his gratitude to the university community for their continious support to the society and also thanked the two other speakers who couldn’t make it through the preliminary stages of the competition for their commitment, encouraging them to be resilient in the intellectual banter.
He further assured the university community of the societies aim to lift the flag of the university high in the ongoing competition. The other two speakers who represented the universty are Freda Addico, a first year nursing student and Nana Frimpong, also a first year student reading Biomedical Sciences.

This year would be the second time the UCC DEBATE SOCIETY, the reigning champions of debate in Ghana would be representing the university in the PAN AFRICAN UNIVERSITIES DEBATE CHAMPIONSHIP after their maiden participation last year in Kumasi.
