The Tertiary Students Confederacy of the New Patriotic Party, Tescon Knust on Tuesday, November 12, 2019, paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Obiri Danso.

 

The team was led by Gabriel Owusu Afriyie, Tescon Knust President together with 8 other executives; Habib-Maajib Habib, Nasara Coordinator, Nicholas Ebbah, Organiser, Ruth Osei, Treasurer, Appiah Joel Ayim, Communications Officer, Samuel Ofori, Secretary, Yerlarge Kwesi Brainy, Vice President, Joyce Barfi, Women’s Commissioner and Wisdom Ndzinu, Deputy Secretary interacted and deliberated on issues of concern.

“As part of the issues discussed, we appreciated certain policies Professor Obiri Danso had implemented and how they are positively affecting the socio-academic and physical lives of students” Communications Officer, Joel Ayim told hypercitigh.com.

Leadership as part of the visit used the opportunity to highlight some Government policies and the way forward from the University’s position.  Notable of them was the FREE SHS Policy of which the Vice-Chancellor made known, the infrastructural expansion which has prevailed so far.

“We understood that the university had put measures in place to ensure the smooth running of it, for the purpose of sustainability. In that, the university has and is still expanding its infrastructure to accommodate the increasing number of students admitted as a result of FREE SHS” – Joel Ayim

Classroom capacity has been increased from capacity from 32,000 to 64,000. With projects ongoing to add extra 23,000 hypercitigh.com understands.

He urged the executives to implement social interventions that would positively affect lives on campus and also informed Tescon leadership on some privileges available to student entrepreneurs.

Tescon Knust leadership thanked the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Obiri Danso for the privilege to meet and interact with him, and assured him to work within the guidelines of the university.
