The agric sector under the auspices of His Excellency Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo, has seen a significant facelift. It is important to note that the agric sector was growing negatively hitherto the inception of this government; thanks to the incompetent Mr John Mahama. Supposedly-free fertilizers were distributed to party cronies and friends who smuggled them for their parochial gains. Cocoa production dropped significantly, farmers were under-tooled and the country was heavily importing farm produce.
This weakened the strength of the cedi.

The agric sector now under the visionary leadership of president Akufo-Addo, has birthed an unprecedented growth. It is growing positively now. There are policies streamlining this significant growth we are seeing in the agric sector. These include:

🌱 Planting for food and jobs
🌱 Rearing for food and jobs
🌱 Planting for Export and Rural Development
🌱 1 district 1 warehouse
🌱 1 district 1 factory
🌱 Youth in agriculture, among others.

Clearly these show leadership with purpose.
Fertilizers for farmers have been subsidised significantly.
Under agric mechanisation, government has provided about 500 tractors, 700 harvesters, 1000 threshers, 350 farm implements, 312 maize shellers, 75 multi-crop threshers, 127 planters and other farm machinery.

A good number of Ghanaians have been employed to help boost the agric sector. Under Youth in Agric, about 54,000 Ghanaians have benefited. These individuals are given fertilizers, seeds and farm implements to farm. After harvesting, they are assisted to sell with help of National Food Buffer Stock company (which feeds the Akufo-Addo graduates), or store the produce within the warehouses constructed in the various districts across the country to prevent post harvest losses.

Under the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program, government has constructed the biggest greenhouse estate in West Africa, to produce vegetables and train the youth in greenhouse farming.

Under the erstwhile ineffectual administration, the agric sector was deluged with inordinate importation. This is a thing of the past now. As of the first quarter of 2018 to date, individuals are not applying for permits to import maize, plantain, cashew among others, anymore. These are now produced locally in abundance and even exported to neighbouring countries.

Under the 1 district 1 factory initiative, these factories have been established to boost the agric sector:

🌱 Plantain Processing factory at Asante Akyem Agogo;
🌱 Ekumfi Pineapple factory;
🌱 Glofert Ghana in Suhum district, produces fertilizer to support agriculture;
