On Friday, January 6, 2023, the Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum directed all public universities to comply with the parliamentary approved 15% fees for the 2022/2023 academic year.

The directive followed several agitations by the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) and the University Students Association of Ghana (USAG) that some universities were charging higher than the 15% approved by Parliament.

However, in the latest twist, KNUST has introduced college/departmental charges to be paid separately from the academic facility user fees (AFUF) as known to students.
