Dear NSS Personnel, why GHC 60 has been deducted from your ‘Allawa’

Allowances of service personnel have seen an outright deduction of GHC 60.00 from their allowance to settle for the payment of (2 Yards or more) of the Cloth which are either distributed or yet to be distributed to them.

According to Mr. Armstrong Esaah, the Corporate Affairs Director of the Scheme, the re-introduction of the NSS Cloth is part of their re-branding strategies. In a clarification, Mr. Esaah said the current executives of the National Service Personnel Association (NASPA) are not exclusively responsible for the reintroduction of the NSS cloth since it was a decision taken by the 2017/2018 administration. This statement was made last year when there was an uproar from disgruntled personnel who felt adequate consultations were not made before such a decision took effect.

The amount involved has been deducted at source from the October allowance. The Scheme has distributed the cloth to various stations to be collected by national service personnel.
