__________________________
As part of its strong commitment to the development of the intellectual prowess of its members, the Faculty of Built Environment Students Society (FABESS) has introduced an annual and competitive project module named “The Community Project Competition”.This project, organized by the FABESS 2018/2019 batch of executives, seeks to challenge participants to develop innovative solutions to existing challenges in a selected community using the skills and knowledge they have acquired from their education. It also aims to attract and encourage stakeholders who can provide funds to financially support the actualisation of these ideas.
There are many ways to make the world a better place; it is with this motive, that we offer the platform to young people to attempt to discover smart solutions to society’s most challenging problems. By placing a few big bets on some of society’s most pressing challenges, we believe, truly significant progress- in making the world a better place- can be achieved. Indeed, the Community Project can cause rippling effects beyond what a single $100 million grant enables.
The rules of procedure for the competition are as follows:
● Participants are to be grouped into teams of four members. Every team must have representatives from each department within the faculty;
● The teams will be tasked to devise practical solution(s) to an existing problem faced by a particular community. The problem, which is related to the built environment, will consider socio-economic factors as well;
● Finally, the teams are required to prepare and present a proposal. Each proposal will be reviewed by a panel of experts from a variety of fields;
● The winning team will receive a cash prize of GH¢2000.00 and souvenirs from sponsors.
 Participants who are not selected as the grand winners will still receive valuable feedback on their ideas.
Applicants will receive further information about the competition.
As members of the faculty, we hope to see your active participation and support of “The Community Project Competition .”
