On Friday October 16, 2020, The Women Advocacy Network launched its maiden initiative dubbed; Women Innovation Challenge under the theme: Empowering Women to Promote Economic Development  through Entrepreneurship. The purpose was to encourage young women participation in the application of acquired knowledge, skills and abilities to solve problems pertaining to the wellbeing of people and to develop the enthusiasm and skills of entrepreneurship as a solution to unemployment. 

In attendance was the Co- Founder of GrassRoots Hub, Emmanuel Marfo, CEO of Golden Heritage, Ranti Adjaku, A rep from the Bono Region Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Monica Oyen, President of Fiapre Youth Association and Special Aide to Sunyani West MCE, Nathaniel Sefa Boakye, A rep from National Youth Authority, A rep from the UNYA-Ghana, Assemblyman of Oyokofoase, Sifuyani Abdulai, Queen mothers from the Fiapre Traditional Council, General Manager of Spirit Filled Television, Successful entrepreneurs, Students and other Unions. 

Lawrencia Konamah, President of Women Advocacy Network welcomed and expressed heartfelt gratitude to guest and dignitaries present for their enthusiasm in the development of women and urged their participation and support throughout the program.

The CEO and Founder of the Women Advocacy, Janat Issifu in addressing guest and dignitaries gave a brief history about Women Advocacy Network and its success stories in the past 3 years of existence. She addressed challenges faced by young women in the country pertaining to their economic well-being and the need to support young women start-up innovations, which she believes will help address unique difficulties women face when starting their business, help create jobs and contribute to the economic empowerment of women.

In concluding her speech, she urged all to encourage young women to take up this opportunity and as well, plead to them to give guidance and support to young women in need of their assistance.  Mr. Emmanuel Marfo, the Chairperson of the Launch congratulated the Executives of Women Advocacy Network for their innovative idea and pledged his unendless support to the program and the Network at large.

With women interest and welfare at heart, Madam Monica Onyen in her speech made mention of the challenges women face in Bono Region and contributions Ministry of Gender have made to solve some of these challenges. She then pledged the Ministry’s willingness to support any organization that seeks to empower and educate women, of which Women Advocacy Network was not an exception.

Women Innovation Challenge as a program for the youth at large, saw acknowledgement of National Youth Authority. The Representative mentioned the important role Women Innovation Challenge will play in sustaining women participation in economic development, building their capacity and making them meaningful in the economy. 

The program was successfully brought to a close as Aunty Ranti Adjaku who has always had the youth, most especially young women development at heart, duly launched the 2020 edition of Women Innovation Challenge. 
We appreciate all and sundry for supporting and guiding us throughout the launch of Women Innovation Challenge . It is our hope and prayer that they continue to lead us in the successful implementation of the annual project.
