The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) following the lead of the current year’s WASSCE for School assessment has unveiled to insert QR Codes in each question paper to check examination malpractice.
A staff of the Examinations Council in an interview with Citi News said the QR Codes will be implanted in each question paper to restrict instances of examination malpractice which is being recorded yearly.
As per the Chairman of WAEC, Professor Ato Essuman said the new technology system will be alarmed with the code when a corrupt individual takes a stab at running duplicates of the WAEC question paper.
The innovation would make it inconceivable for students to cheat in the assessment, the WAEC official said the QR Code will track assessment question papers.
“Each question paper will have a unique code, linked to a candidate’s index number and identification number. We can hence trace the perpetrators,” Professor Ato Essuman told the Accra-based Citi FM.
Meanwhile, a source at the WAEC office has told Educationweb.com.gh the non-profit-making organization this year will employ mobile phone jammers at various examination centers to interrupt internet connections.
