At a ceremony this afternoon, the University of Energy and Natural Resources SRC has officially cut sod for the construction of an ultramodern cafeteria at the Dormaa Campus of the University.
Present were Prof. Elvis Asare Bediako (Vice Chancellor of the University), Dr. Dominic Otoo (Dean of Students), Dean of the School of Agriculture), Mr. Wiafe Richard (SRC President), Mr. Michael Yaw Berko (SRC Vice President), Mr. Godfred Quainoo (SRC President, Dormaa Campus), Departmental Officers, other SRC Executives and some Students.
The Vice Chancellor in an address eulogised the SRC for taking up the project and the very good relationship it has had with Management of the University as partners in development. He also took opportunity to call on government to expedite processes to complete the construction of some three different storey facilities which will contain lecture halls, offices and laboratories on the Dormaa Campus.
Mr. Wiafe Richard, who spoke on behalf of the SRC also explained what informed the decision to take up the project. He indicated that as a concerned council that upholds the interest and welfare of its members, it realised hardships that students of the campus due to the lack of a decent and convenient eatery.
He also pointed out that the edifice will serve the purposes of eatery for students and staff, renting for auxiliary functions which will be a good source of revenue to the council.
The project, which will be completed ina period of 24 weeks will be undertaken by Mining and Building Contractors, a construction firm based in Obuasi.
