See who suggested the double-track system to Akufo-Addo

The Deputy Minister of Education in charge of general education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum says he suggested the double-track system currently used in some Senior High Schools to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

He disclosed this in an interview with the Kumasi-based Pure 95.7 FM monitored by Georgeweb.org with host Kwame Adinkra.

Asked who brought the idea of the gold and green track system, Dr Adutwum said he suggested the system to the Akufo-Addo administration

Dr Adutwum added that his recommendation was based on his 10 years experience of the system when he was a teacher in the U.S.

According to him the double-track system first started in the United States of America, California in 1994, a system he said the country has used for over 10 years in some of their schools to increase enrolment.

The Bosomtwe Member of Parliament in the interview commended His Excellency Nana Akufo-Addo and the Minister of Education, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh for the implementation of the double-track system.

“It was not easy to explain the double-track system to the President and the Education Minister but it was foreign and was going to affect so many people, including owners of private SHSs “, he told host Kwame Adinkra.

The teaching minister further said Akufo-Addo approved the green and gold system in other for all children who complete Junior High School continue their education at the secondary level for free amid Free SHS.
