NAPO reveals teachers who will not receive professional allowance in 2021

Teachers who do not upgrade themselves as professional and do not attend the continuous professional development and PLC next year will not receive any professional allowance, the Education Minister has said.

Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh comment comes after he was asked when the Government of Ghana (GoG) will duly pay the professional allowance for validated professional and non-professional teachers.

NAPO in an interview with a Drobo-based radio station monitored by Georgeweb.org said eligible teachers this year will receive the professional allowance but effective next year not all teachers will be beneficiaries.

“So those teachers who do not want to upgrade to professional and will not attend the continuous professional development and professional learning community next year will not receive the allowance”, he stated.

According to him, the continuous professional allowance is not free money adding that “every teacher knows is not free money and work not done deserves no payment”.

The Manhyia South Member of Parliament furthered that all In-service teachers four times each year has to go for an upgrade meeting and professional learning community every Wednesday afternoon in school.
