The Former Member of Parliament for the Jomoro Constituency and Deputy Minister for Chieftaincy & Religious Affairs Hon Paul Kabenlah Essien has donated some fishing materials which consist of pans and drying nets to some Fante fishmongers in Half Assini and Ahobre communities in Jomoro to celebrate this year’s May Day.

The occasion which took place for a short moment at separate communities yesterday was represented by the NPP Constituency Executive led by Constituency Chairman, Hon. Simon Amoah and the leaders of the various groups of fishmongers in these fishing towns Half Assini and Ahobre.

The Fmr. MP on his part said, on Workers Day such as May Day, he believes that the items given will assist them to work hard and partake in all year-long fishing activities which will put food on their table as individuals and their families at large. He said, my calling to become an MP was to complete programs and projects and not to compete with people and while I am not the current MP, I believe with your total support and prayers this vision will be accomplished. My tenure as MP saw most of the communities getting at least a project and programs which impacted the lives of the people, something which has not happened in our current dispensation of doing politics here in Jomoro.

He used the occasion to reiterate his commitment to the people of Jomoro, that, some of the projects he started during his tenure as MP will be tackled to ensure its completion so that, they will be useful for their intended purpose to the inhabitants. Because a greater amount of resources and energies were channeled into these projects and as I speak, works on some projects in various communities have resumed and will soon be handed over to these communities.

Giving the opportunity, the leader of the various groups of the fishmonger’s alongside the coastal areas notably Half Assini and Ahobre (Mr.Ottoo) thanked the Former MP Hon. Paul Essien for the outstanding leadership exhibited and assistance giving them so far. He continued to count the assistance such as Premix fuel and outboard motors now available for fishermen, cash donations to their women, and many other things are done individually.

He said, for me, I am surprised because it is not common to see that all these things were done during his tenure and still this same Former MP has the interest and needs of the people at heart to give these items to our women even though he is not the current MP, this suggests that we the people of Jomoro will miss a great leader like Hon. Paul Essien. He asked the groups present to rally behind this visionary leader for their comfort in the fishing activities.

The women leaders only said they know that the services of Hon. Paul to put Jomoro on the highest pedestal is yet to come especially the fishmongers; and appealed to him to make up his mind to come back again because they will give him all the support he will need to succeed, for they are behind him 24/7.

Leaders are best known for their policies, programs, the support they give to their people irrespective of the circumstances they find themselves in to ensure that the living standards of the people are improved. For this reason, Hon. Paul Essien is an excellent example of these leaders.
