Infocus: National Science and Maths Quiz Celebrating 25 Years
The National Science and Maths Quiz programme is celebrating it 25 Years of promoting the study of science and Mathematics
Education in Ghana and Beyond from 5th of June to 5th of July at the University of Ghana, Legon.
The National Science and Maths Quiz programme which has it objective to promote the study of sciences and mathematics,
helping students to develop quick thinking and a probing and scientific mind about the things around them, while fostering
healthy academic rivalry among senior high schools.

It’s been 25 years since Primetime started producing the National Science and Maths Quiz Programme. Yet,
no girls’ school in the country has won it.
Profiles of the Past Quiz Mistress and Present.
Prof. Marian Ewurama Addy, professor of Biochemistry at the University of Ghana, Legon was the first quiz mistress
Prof. Marian Ewurama Addy was quiz-mistress from 1993-2000.
In 1995 Chartered Institute of Marketing named her as the Marketing Woman of the year in remembrance of her
contribution in promoting the study of Science and Mathematics amongst girls through the National Science and Maths Quiz Programme .
The Second Quiz Misstress was a botanist at the University of Ghana, Legon.
Dr. E. Emefa Ahadzi Adomako who was recommended by Professor Marian Ewurama Addy took over from 2001-2005.
She handed over to Dr. Elsie Effah Kaufmannis because she has leave for a postgraduate studies.
Finally Biomedical Engineer, Dr. Elsie Effah Kaufmannis (Third and Present Quiz Mistress), the Head of the Biomedical
Engineering department, University of Ghana, Legothe took over the Quiz Misstress for the Programme from Prof. Marian
Ewurama Addy in 2006.
Dr. Elsie Effah Kaufmannis was also recommeded by Prof. Marian Ewurama Addy.
W.A. Asomaning, Dr. Ebenezer Owusu, Dr. Amos Kuditcher and Dr. Douglas Adu-Gyamfi, all of the University of Ghana, Legon
are the team of consultants helping Dr. Elsie Effah Kaufmannis to perform her duties effectively and efficiently.
just recently Dr. Elsie Effah Kaufmann received the 2018 Golden Torch Award for International Academic Leadership
Prempeh College was unstoppable in 2017 which made them to win the 2017 edition of the National Science and Maths Quiz.
