Prof. Elvis Asare Bediako, Vice Chancellor of the University of Energy and Natural Resources at a crunch meeting with student course representatives and SRC officers at the university auditorium today, 26th July, 2021 has apologised to students for the delay in release of first semester of the 2020/2021 academic year examinations results.
In his introductory message He said “this evening, the main reason why I came is this. I was worried when your results were not released. That is why I said we want to meet all the course reps because if we address only the SRC President, some of you may think that we convinced them to come and convince you…We want to tell you that the Vice Chancellor cares. I am doing all what I can to improve this university…so please let’s have the patience.”
The third Vice Chancellor of the Sunyani based institution also indicated that there is work on separating affairs of student results management from the IT directorate to expedite work on processing the results.
“We have put in measures to prevent repetition but unfortunately we find ourselves in this mess…Now the I.T directorate will be separated from academics so they’ll set up an MIS – Students Records Unit”, He said.
The professor of plant virology added that as future Alumni of a young university, it will be important for students to be given a good treat.
“I know that you are going to be our future ambassadors. As a young university, we need to develop a strong alumni and since you’re a potential alumni, if you’re not happy here and enroll out, you’ll have a little to say. I want you to take pride in the university.”
The issue of delay in release of results has been prevalent in UENR for the past few years. Results of semester one of the 2020/2021 academic year was released just this morning.
Students had been in dismay for not having an idea what their past semester’s performance was.
Representative junior members were given the opportunity to ask questions.
