GES gives date 2021 BECE graduates will start selection of schools

2021 BECE for School graduates who sat for the just-ended national examination from November 29, 2021, to December 14, 2021, will start selection of schools for placement, the Ghana Education Service has announced.

In a statement copied to EducationWeb.com.gh, the Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) said sensitization on the school selection for the 2021/2022 academic year will commence on Tuesday, November 23, 2021.

The forthcoming nationwide school selection sensitization exercises the Education Service said will take place in all Regional, District Education Directorates and various public and private Junior High Schools (JHSs) across the country.

“GES wishes to inform stakeholders to watch out for infographics, short videos in nine (9) Ghanaian Languages, flyers and the physical presence of officers in all District communicates and schools to embark on sensitization drive,” it said.

The Service has urged parents and guardians of the 2021 BECE for School graduates to take a keen interest in the selection of schools process to ensure a smooth SHS placement of the Junior High School (JHS) graduates.

“Parents and guardians of students are advised to take a keen interest in the selection of schools processes t ensure a smooth Senior High School placement this academic year,” the Management of GES stated in the statement.

It further said a shortcode for the JHS graduates to confirm their school choice before the actual placement will be communicated to the graduates, teachers and members of the general public at the appropriate time.

“There would be an opportunity for them to text to a shortcode and confirm their school choices before actual placement is out. The details of the shortcode will be made available at the appropriate time,” GES noted.

In a related development, the Ghana Health Service (GHS) in due course will inoculate students aged 15 years and above with the Pfizer-Biotech vaccine to slow and curb the spread of the novel coronavirus in schools.

A sensitization programme the Deputy Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the Ministry of Education, Mr Yaw Opoku Mensah Monday told EducationWeb will be conducted before the commencement of the vaccination exercise.
