Former Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bernard Allotey Jacobs, has observed that the only way the NDC can come back to power is by “massaging the roots”, that is, a thorough working out and strategising on how to win over the grassroots supporters.
“The NDC leaders must move in swiftly to massage the roots. There is a lot of work to do as a party. We must move into the grassroots areas and work feverishly to win them over for the upcoming elections,” he said.
The former NDC regional chairman noted that it would be foolhardiness on the part of the NDC to be complacent in their preparation for the 2020 elections.
“NDC must not be complacent. That will be unwise. You see, in some areas, popularity does not count very much. Central region is a classic example. You don’t rely on how far your name is gone to win an election so I still insist that we work tirelessly on the grassroots that is where the power lies.
“I entreat the NDC heads not to feel too educated to work in the Western region grassroots because it is an erudite syndicate of the New Patriotic Party who have established some form of jinx over there. If that jinx is broken, things can move forward for the NDC in the Western region. We need a strong campaign machinery over there,” he opined on Peace FM, monitored by Adomonline.com.
