Recorded in the hay days of 2019, award-winning Spoken Word Artist, Megborna, shares with us this piece he titles, “Chasing The Dream”. It captures the thoughts, desires, ambitions, and pressures of a young heart trying to find footing in Ghana. Asked why Chasing the Dream and why now, Megborna replied,
“Den we dey the studio. I go der seckoff I wan record oh but I froze out. I lose the vibe. So I flow 3nity sey mok we just flow from wena heart. He freestyle the instru, I hop on am, ei no keep kuraa, I’m flowin. I talk dat seckoff ibi ma genuine feelings den thoughts at de time, u feel me? Ma prayers dat, like ma many other prayers.”
This is spoken word artist’s second release this year after MOVE which was released on January 1, 2020. To Megborna, we are all on journey, so as we MOVE, it is important to be true to ourselves at every state of time.
“Edey hia sey mok adroop am now. A new wave dey come, whey wat dey come happen eerr, dem no dey tell person. Dat be y edey hia sey Chasing The Dream for drop now take pave de way”.
Since the release of his Debut Album AGOO-Silver Words in 2017, Megborna has since maintain a dominant stance in the Ghanaian Spoken Word Industry, dropping singles after singles, with features both locally and internationally.
Megborna’s what is about to happen cannot be told. And so we wait to see. Asked if we should expect any more works anytime soon, the spoken word artist smiled and said, “As de year no end nkoa dieer, Vim dey. More tinz fi drop.”
