In the interview The JoyTV presentER said that Ghana We Make*KOKO CARS and Why are you bringing Robots to Ghana?
in response to the TV presenters question Giant Mr. Henry Kwaku Boafo made it known that robotics was introduced in large
scale at the Senior High School level in Ghana by one Giant Dr. Trebi Ashitey Ollenu who works at NASA.
Giant Dr. Ashitey Ollenu is the one who formed the Ghana Robotics Foundation in 2011 and is sponsored by notable
organisations and institutions such as the US Embassy.
Abbey nyanko lartey and Kelvin oduro Aboagye (the Captain of the GSTS Robotics Team) are the students who were interview
by JoyTV presenter about the Michigan Robotics Competition, 2018 at USA.
The Ghana Secondary Technical School Robotics team was led by Giant Mr. Kwaku Boafo, who is a lead consultant, Coach for
the GSTS Robotics Club and a Research Fellow, Centre for Settlement Studies at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science
and Technology (KNUST),Kumasi.
“Robotics in general helps you to think Deep and is not something you can wash off”, you have to be
observant, critical and bring a lot things into play said Giant Mr. Kwaku Boafo, the research fellow.
So far i have been also able to program, construct and build robots- said the GSTS robotics Team Leader
Ghana Secondary Technical School qualified to Michigan Robotics Competition, 2018 by taking the first position followed by
Opoku Ware School which also took the second position, hence Opoku Ware School did not qualify for Michigan Robotics
Competition, 2018 at the United States of America.
GSTS was adjudged the winners of the national robotics champions of Autonomous Rescue Challenge (ARC) on On Saturday
October, 7th 2017 which took place at Wesley Secondary School, Cape Coast.
The GIANTS ROBOTICS TEAM took awards in Bronze, Gold and Sliver.
Not to forget also the recent winners of Michigan Robotics Competition, which is Prempeh College in 2016 and were presented
with OYOTA INNOVATION AWARD.
Michigan Robotics Competition is presented by great schools in the field of robotics from China, Canada, India, Ghana and
United States of America.
These schools in Ghana have robotics club and they have made significant changes in robotics, they are Ghana Secondary
Technical School, Prempeh College, Wesley Girls Secondary School, Opoku Ware, Saint James Seminary, Mfantsipim School,
Cape Coast and Saint Augustines College, Cape Coast, Tarkwa Senior High School, Archbishop Porters Girls Senior High
School, Apam Senior High School. and other
This years Michigan Robotics Competition is to take place from 17th May to 19th May, 2018.
Ghana Secondary Technical School, Takoradi recently won the western regional athletics competition, (INTERCO) 2018 EDITION, @ESSIPON STADIUM.
