Kikam Asemko Concern Tertiary Students’ (KACTS’) presents scholarship package to two needy but brilliant final JHS year students.

As part of Kikam Asemko Concern Tertiary Students’ core mandate to promote development through education by means of giving back to the community. The establishment through its initiative “Brighter Education Trust Fund” has taken upon herself to annually select and sponsor two (2) needy but brilliant Junior High School students in their final year from both public schools (S.D.A and Methodist JHS) in the community. It strongly believes that with education we can bring about development in the community.This initiative was introduced and implemented in 2020 where two needy but brilliant students benefited. The selected students chosen for 2021 were Matilda Kwofie and Ruth Kwofie of  SDA and Methodist JHS respectively. However, the selection was done in consultation with the Headmasters of both schools.

Each beneficiary students’ received an amount of Three Hundred and Forty-five Ghana Cedis (GH₵ 345.00). The package captures their B.E.C.E registration fee, online photograph for the registration, mock examination fee, extra classes, exams coaching, result checker, school placement voucher, transportation cost to the exam hall, and school lacoste.

The presentation of the award to the deserving students took place on Thursday 10th June, 2021 at their respective schools. Personalities present were: Mr. Ben Kwofie, the Unit Committee member of Kikam Electoral Area and Assembly member representative as well. Mr. Isaac Ackon, the Patron of KACTS’ and Mr. Dominic Asamoah – President of KACTS’.

In his address, Mr. Isaac Ackon challenged the students that those in the private schools are not superior than those in the public schools. This is because the public schools like theirs have trained and qualified teachers who can help them produce the best of results if they take their studies very serious. He added, the Association together with its stakeholders are ready to help the academically exceptional students with scholarship or bursary to pursue higher education.

In conclusion, Mr. Ackon entreated the students to emulate the examples of the members of the Association who are making Kikam and Asemko proud in all walks of life.

Mr. Dominic Asamoah, the president of the Association also shared his life experiences with the students. He encouraged them to study hard so they can excel academically.

Mr. Ben Kwofie who represented the Assembly member also advised the beneficiaries to value the scholarship for the betterment of their own life. He added, the award should motivate them to study harder and climb the education ladder to the top.

The Head teachers of both school also thanked the stakeholders of the Association for the initiative. However, they ceased the opportunity and appealed to other benevolent in the community to also come to their aid.

Both parents of the beneficiaries were overjoyed and expressed their gratitude for that great relief. They thanked KACTS’ for their financial support.

The Headmaster of Methodist JHS, Mr. Robert Blay took the opportunity to appeal the Assembly Member to help extend electricity to the school premises. He added, this will enhance teaching and learning especially in organization of evening classes for the final year students.
