The Senior Staff Association of Public Universities went on a strike earlier last month. The KNUST Senior Staff Association joined their colleagues on January 25, 2021 to resonate their displeasure with regard to payment of certain allowances by Government. This lead to the closure of the University’s Basic Schools which had resumed its activities only a week before the strike took force.
In a communique from the outfit of Mrs. Margaret Dzisi, the Deputy Registrar of the University, the Senior Staff Association of Public Universities-KNUST Chapter has accepted the resumption of academic activities at the Basic Schools that were shut down earlier in January.
Per the communique released, the KNUST Basic Schools which comprise of the Nursery, Primary and Junior High Schools will reopen officially on Wednesday, February 10, 2021. This comes after more than two weeks of a halt in academic activities at the Basic Schools. Government is also yet to fully respond to the demands that commenced the strike action in the first place.
