Second and third-year students of the University of Ghana are no longer expected to report to school between Thursday, August 26 and Sunday, August 29, 2021.
The Business and Executive Committee of the University, at a meeting held on Thursday, August 6, decided to move their reopening date.
The decision was taken as lecturers across the country are embarking on strike, demanding an increment in salaries.
The strike by the University Teachers Association of Ghana has already forced several tertiary institutions, including the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, to put their end-of-semester examinations on hold.
UTAG has been on strike since August 2, 2021.
The Association wants the 2012 conditions of service to peg the Basic plus Market Premium of a lecturer at $2,084.42.
