Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ), as part of its 60th anniversary celebration, has launched a media contest to champion public interest journalism.
The theme for the contest is “Role of media in promoting effective citizen participation for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals”.
The contest is open to all communication students and media communication practitioners.
Entry starts from Monday, June 10, 2019 to Friday June 19, 2019.
The winner of each category in this contest will be awarded GHC 5,000 along with a certificate of recognition.
The various categories for the contest are articles, video documentary and audio documentaries.
Explaining the motive for the contest, Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority and GIJ Council Member, Akwasi Owusu Agyeman, said that the reason for the media contest was to enhance discussion and citizen participation.
Rector of the Institute, Prof. Kwamena Kwansah-Aidoo, reminded the public that the aim of the GIJ at 60 celebrations was to bring together all members of the Institute including students, alumni, cooperate Ghana and the general public in order to celebrate the past.
The launch was attended by students of the school as well as some members of school management and staff.
