A public notice circulated by management of the Ghana Institute of Journalism has edvised academic staff of the institute to do well to engage students on various online platforms.
The notice signed by the school’s registrar notified students and other stakeholders officially that lectures are put on hold from today.
“Management at its emergency meeting held on 16th March, 2020 following government’s directive regarding the COVID-19 pandemic wishes to inform all staff that the institute shall go on recess effective Tuesday, 17th March 2020” the notice said.
It went on further to state measures that has been put in place to ensure that work does not come to a stand still.
Point two of these measures touched on how learning is advised to go on saying “To ensure that work does not grind to a halt, it has been decided that all academic staff shall put in the necessary arrangements to ensure that teaching and learning is conducted online (E-mail, WhatsApp, Telegram etc.)”
The notice also said that all staff of management shall remain at post during this period.
Again, staff from some departments of the school recognized as “essential services” have been given a cut on the number of people to come to work during this period.
This period of staying away from will also be deducted from the annual leave of staff the statement added.
Management will resume work on Monday 20th April, 2020.
