Details: GRASAG KNUST  President hopeful, Fred Parker calls on Ghana Scholarship Secretariat

Master Fred Parker, a Presidential candidate in this year’s GRASAG-KNUST elections paid a courtesy call in the early hours of Monday to the office of the registrar of the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat.

The visit was to have a firsthand information about the postgraduate students bursary popularly know as GRASAG bursary. This is against the backdrop of complains made by most postgraduate students in the KNUST community.

In attendance was the Registrar, Hon. Kingsley Agyeman, the Deputy, Hon. Afia Gyasiwaa Gaisie and Mr. Richard Gyamfi who is the Head of International Relations at the secretariat.

The meeting lasted for close to an hour as parties explained what goes into getting the GRASAG bursary. The registrar indicated that there will be payments and applications hopefully by the month of October. He was of the view that student association should make frequent visits to their office to have firsthand information rather than make speculations.

Fred Parker, also engaged him about possible partnerships with his office to help secure alternative funds from International bodies and cooperate Ghana to help create more research funds in KNUST and beyond. He added that a seminar on scholarship opportunities, capacity building amongst others for the postgraduate community and deepen their relationship and communication with students by establishing an office around or having a representative.

The leadership of the office expressed their support for the vision and encouraged him to engage the office from time to time and be an exemplary leader when elected to office.
