Global Health Emerging Leaders Program (GHELP), Ghana 2021; a four day activity packed academic program


With the wake of COVID-19 comes a realization of the need for more research into an already multi-faceted panorama of human diseases, reactions and symptoms of such diseases. In a bid to increase awareness and inspire more students to take up roles in the world of health, the Global Health Emerging Leaders Program is an avenue created by a cooperation of key industry players in the Health sector to aid the preparation of emerging leaders from the field of Health for the key role they play in the day-to-day affairs of the global citizenry.

Global Health Focus in collaboration with African Young Leaders for Global Health presents the Global Health Emerging Leaders Program (GHELP) slated for October 11, 2021 to October 14, 2021. Day 1 will be a delivery of a keynote address by the keynote speaker for the program, Dr. Bertha Serwaa Ayi. She is an astute author with two published books and numerous online publications and contributions to various medical journals. She is also a Board Certified Infections disease specialist.

Day 2, October 12, 2021, will be another insightful interaction with Mr. Michael Mireku Opoku who currently serves as the District Director of Health for the Nkronza North district in the Bono East region; his research interests are infectious diseases.

Day 3, October 13, 2021, will be a Research Seminar for Academics dubbed “From Preparation to Publication: Understanding the Nitty-gritty of the Scientific Publishing Process”. To facilitate the seminar is no one other than Professor Don Eliseo Lucero-Prisno III, a visiting Scientist from Harvard University. Prof. Don also will facilitate other sessions on the first 2 days of the program.’ The climax of the program on Day 4 will be a Tour of specific areas of interest with further information to be communicated on arrival at the Seminar.
