Mr. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin is the speaker of the eighth parliament of the fourth Republic of Ghana. He was elected to office on 7th January 2021. Before then he had served the nation as a member of the first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh parliaments of the fourth Republic of Ghana representing the Nadowli West Constituency in the Upper West Region of Ghana. He also served as the second deputy speaker of the seventh parliament from 7th January 2017 to 6th January 2021. He served as the Minister for Water Resources, Works, and Housing from 10th January 2010 to 26th January 2012. He also served in the capacity as Minister for Health from January 26, 2012 to January 6, 2013.

He began his formal education at a very early age at the Roman Catholic Primary School in Sombo. He started his secondary school education at Wa Secondary School and finished at Tamale Secondary School where he attained O’ level (Ordinary Level) and A’ level (Advanced level) certificates. He furthered his education at the tertiary level at University of Ghana in 1977 where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in law and English in 1980. He headed to the Ghana School of law at Makola and was then called to the bar in 1982.
He also obtained Executive master’s in governance and Leadership at Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).
All these go a long way to show just how much learned Mr. Alban Bagbin is and how much influence he has on the people of the Republic of Ghana.
