In a speech at the launch of the nationwide “Green Ghana” campaign today 11th June, 2021, the Bono Regional Minister; Madam Justina Owusu- Banahene has mentioned that govenment will assist the University of Energy and Natural Resources to enhance forestry education.
“Today, we are blessed to be on the grounds of UENR which used to be a forestry school. If it was a forestry school, then all the values in the school should be enhanced so Papa (Vice Chancellor) you have lots of work to do and we will help you in other for our Children to know the essence of our forests”. She said.
The second female Regional Minister for the Bono Region and former MCE of Sunyani had her speech touching on the medical and economic benefits gained from trees alongside commitments by govenment in the area of tree planting.
The University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) was established by an Act of Parliament, Act 830, 2011 on December 31, 2011. The University is a public funded national institution which seeks to provide leadership and management of energy and natural resources and be a centre of excellence in these critical areas.
