2020 WASSCE: WAEC reveals when withheld results will be released

The West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) usually withheld results of candidates when it suspects examination malpractice during and after the conduct of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination.

The Examinations Council after suspecting such an illegal act launches investigation into the matter and only releases the withheld results after the conclusion of the investigation or scrutiny of scripts.

According to WAEC, the investigation process will not take longer than 31 days or one (1) month but in some cases, it does as the Council has not specified any date concerning the release of withheld results.

However, it assures that it will release the results once a final decision is taken by the management of the non-profit-making organization. The results will be released in batches but not at once.

When your results are still withheld after an abnormal period of time you may be called to the WAEC office in your region or at the WAEC-Ghana headquarters in Accra to make a statement concerning the examination malpractice.

Some results are released one-week after investigation, but in some cases, it takes a longer period of time depending on how serious the malpractice is.

The non-profit-making organization (WAEC) currently has withheld the results of over 60,000 candidates from 122 Senior High Schools (SHSs).
