A Simple Unisa Registration Guide for 2020

UNISA Registration Process can sometimes be very confusing and stressful. This walkthrough will guide you through the process of web registration for all undergraduate degrees and diplomas at Unisa.

If you are a First-Year Student at Unisa in 2020, then you can study for free. If your household income is less than R350 000 per year, then NSFAS will fund your studies with a Bursary (free study), instead of a study loan.

Register during the registration period.

First, you need to know the Registration Dates because you can only register during certain times in the year.

  • Then visit UNISA.
  • Scroll down a little, and click on the blue block that says “Register to Study“.

Choose the option that applies to you

  1. Undergraduate & Honours qualifications
  2. Master’s & Doctoral degrees
  3. Short Learning Programmes

The registration process begins…Read the text and once you are ready click on the Start the process button. Find out about Unisa courses and fees.

Find your qualification

  • There are multiple ways to search for your qualification. Choose the option that suits you.
  • Once your search is complete, select your qualification.
  • Once you are happy with the qualification you selected, scroll down, and click the Proceed to calculating your student fees button.

Calculate your study fees

Read the text and use the buttons under the Prescribed student fees heading to help you calculate your study fees.

Submit your registration

Once you have calculated your study fees, click on number 3 in the Registration Process.

Read the text and use the buttons under the Registration Options heading to choose which way you will submit your registration.

Pay your study fees

After submitting your registration you need to pay your study fees.

  • Click on number 4 to continue.
  • Click the Payment methods button to explore the different options UNISA accepts.
  • Once you have made payment you can click on the What to do after you have completed the Unisa registration process button at the bottom of the page.

How much is a registration fee at Unisa?

If you register 1 module you will pay R1800 on registration. If you register 2 modules you will pay R3600 on registration. And if you register 3 modules you will pay R5400 on registration.

What is needed for registration at Unisa?

All applicants starting a new qualification must upload all the required documents. These are copies of your school qualifications (eg Senior Certificate), copy of your official tertiary academic record(s) (if applicable) (internet copies will not be accepted).

How much does a module cost at Unisa?

The cost depends on the qualification, as well as the number of modules you choose. The average student registers for between 4 and 6 modules per year at a cost of between *R1 570,00 and *R4 550,00 per module (*these amounts are subject to change). The module costs do not include your prescribed books.

How many modules can you register for at Unisa?

A student may be allowed to register for a maximum of two modules for non-degree purposes while registered for a formal undergraduate diploma or degree qualification that has a minimum duration of one or two years.

How do I choose my modules at Unisa?

1. Click on the modules from the drop-down list for which you want to register.
2. Enter the correct module code
3. Select the correct semester (1 = first semester; 2 = second semester)
4. Indicate in which language you want to receive your study material (English or Afrikaans)
5. The language of tuition for each module is indicated in the module information
6. Do not exceed the prescribed number of modules per semester or year, as your registration will not be processed.
