The Registrar of the university in a letter addressed to the UHAS SRC president on Wednesday 10th April, 2019 threw some light on issues surrounding the suspension of the UHAS SRC elections.
The election which was slated to take place on Tuesday, 9th April, 2019 was suspended.
A communique released by the UHAS EC on the eve of the election stated that the election had been suspended. The suspension was said to be a directive from the Vice Chancellor, Prof. John Owusu Gyapong. The communique did not state any reasons for the suspension.
Speculations on campus however had it that there were issues of misconduct tagged to some candidates.

The Registrar’s letter which was posted on all notice boards on campus, however cleared the air on what had called for the suspension of the election by the EC.
Her letter mentioned that information had reached her office that some unqualified persons had managed to get their names on the ballot for the SRC elections and that investigations were being conducted into the matter and a feed back to be given soon.
She also stated that elections remained suspended until further notice.
The UHAS EC or SRC however has not released any statement with regards to the issue.
