The University of Ghana Student Representative Council (SRC) president, Mr. Isaac Agyemang has on Tuesday, 19th May 2020 called for calm ahead of talks with University management.
Following calls by some student groups to see to the back of a refund of fees, the SRC in a release has indicated that talks on the subject had already begun.
“The SRC wishes to state categorically that, there has been a number of deliberations with management of the University since April this year on various issues including a consideration of possibilities in terms of the use of students’ funds”- Mr Isaac Agyemang indicated.
Pursuant to this, management has been informed to restructure their budget for the rest of the academic year to suit the changes in the expenditure pattern of the University due to the impact of Covid-19, he added.
“The SRC will thus take an informed decision as to the way to go after the restructuring of the University’s budget to suit current circumstances”.
Following this thrust, the SRC will duly communicate the finality of its deliberation on the matter with management to students.
He also reiterated that, the SRC is the official mouthpiece of the student front and cautioned various student bodies resorting to inappropriate channels to drum home concerns.
“All students are therefore advised to follow procedures to make their concerns known through the appropriate quarters”, Mr. Issac Agyemang said.
