UENR: School of Engineering Wins SRC Freshers’ Debate, Awarded GHS 2000.00

The School of Engineering has today been crowned winners of this year’s fresher’s debate championship organized by the Students’ Representative Council in collaboration with the UENR Forensic Society.

The annually organized freshers’ debate took a different form where Schools battled each other. The debate tournament began on Friday, 30th July, 2021, through to the weekend and ended today. The tournament was between these Schools:
School of Sciences
School of Engineering
School of Natural Resources
School of Management Sciences and Law

The debate employs the British Parliamentary Style – where debaters have no idea of the motion and are made to start debating 15 minutes after the release of motion.

The most ‘logically able’ School in UENR battled the Schools of Sciences, and Management Sciences and Law on the motion; “In an era where University Education or Degree does not translate to a life carrier, this house regrets the glorification of University Education” in the final contest.
Philip Doku Obidier (Opposition Leader) and Kwame Yeboah Lederle (Member of Opposition) team of the School of Engineering received an amount of 2,000 Ghana Cedi from the Ghana Institution of Engineering general.
