The University of Cape Coast has been proactive in this COIVD-19 backed stay-at-home period.

An initial revision of the academic calendar at a meeting of the University’s Executive Committee on April 8, 2020 saw the institution of an online learning platform designated to run from April 22, 2020 to June 2, 2020.

Following this thrust, the University’s Director of Academic Affairs, Mr. Jeff Teye Onyame has on Monday, May 4, 2020, issued a notice to drum home the focus of the online learning platform after management’s attention was drawn to the fact that some lecturers have begun assessing students on the platform.

“We wish to remind all teaching staff of the decision taken at the Emergency Meeting of the Executive Committee of the Academic Board held on 8th April 2020 that online academic work is limited to lectures and tutorials”.

Mr. Jeff Teye Onyame further stated that all practical sessions, assessments (quizzes and assignments) and examinations are to be conducted on campus upon students’ return.

The statement also declared assessments already carried out non-scoring.

“I am to inform all concerned to comply with the decision of the Executive Committee of the Academic Board and that online assessment carried out will be non-scoring.”

The University has also changed the dates slated for the commencement and completion of this semester’s examination. It was initially slated for May 2, 2020 to May 15, 2020 but was revised to a duration spanning June 15, 2020 to June 26, 2020.

It is expected that further changes will be made to the calendar as and when it is deemed fit with the outturn of the Coronavirus pandemic.
