The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has amended the 2020 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) timetable for Principles of Cost Accounting 2 & 1.

A statement signed by the Officer-in-Charge of the Freetown office of WAEC, Mr F. Akuffo-Badoo on Friday July 24, 2020 indicated that “Principle of Cost Accounting 2 & 1 originally scheduled for Saturday 5th September will now be administered on Wednesday 26th August, 2020 from 13:30hrs to 16:30hrs”.

This follows calls and appeals from educational organizations such as the Africa Education Watch for a review of the 2020 WASSCE timetable.

The African Education Watch said that the arrangement where the two elective subjects i. e. Financial Accounting and Principles of Cost Accounting  which were to be written on the same day with only an hour break was “not only strenuous but flies in the face of international standards of assessments at the secondary level”.

Africa Education Watch has called on the West African Examination Council (WAEC) to review the timetable for the 2020 West African Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

The organization requests WAEC to change the timetable for two elective papers of business students -Financial Accounting and Principles of Cost Accounting.

These two electives are to be taken on Saturday, 5th September,2020 with an hour break interval.

The first paper, financial accounting will begin 8:30 and end 12:00GMT; while Principles of Cost Accounting starts from 13:30 to 16:30GMT.

The duration of each paper is three hours with a one hour break to prepare for the next paper.

Africa Education Watch however called for WAEC to reschedule the papers to either Sunday September 6 or Monday  September 7, 2020
