According to Mr. Armstrong Esaah, the Corporate Affairs Director of the Scheme, the re-introduction of the NSS Cloth is part of their re-branding strategies. In a clarification, Mr. Esaah said the current executives of the National Service Personnel Association (NASPA) are not exclusively responsible for the reintroduction of the NSS cloth since it was a decision taken by the 2017/2018 administration. This statement was made last year when there was an uproar from disgruntled personnel who felt adequate consultations were not made before such a decision took effect.

The amount involved has been deducted at source from the October allowance. The Scheme has distributed the cloth to various stations to be collected by national service personnel.
