UPDATE: Police release UG level 100 ‘percher’ after Dean of Students’ intervention

The level 100 student of the University of Ghana who was arrested and detained by the Legon Police has been released following an intervention from the Dean of Students, Prof. Godfred Bopkin.
The boy, Alale Issah who is non-resident was arrested after Akuafo Hall authorities reported him for ‘perching’.

 

According to reports, the boy had been detained at the police station since Sunday and the Dean of Students got to know after the story was published on universnewsroom.com.

In an engagement with Alale Issah, a porter at the hall demanded of him GHC 50.00 and his failure to make payments led to his subsequent arrest.
Also at the police station, Master of the Akuafo Hall, Dr. George Akanlig-Pare apologize to Alale Issah for the unfortunate incident and promised to take the issue up to its proper conclusion.
Meanwhile, UniversNews is working on hearing officially from management of the hall.
