The University of Ghana Business School has once again shown great leadership in bringing to fruition the University of Ghana’s mission of creating “an enabling environment that makes University of Ghana increasingly relevant to national and global development through cutting-edge research as well as high-quality teaching and learning”.

On the 20th of January, 2021, the University of Ghana Business School commissioned the refurbished computer lounge for undergraduate students. This project stems from a broader initiative instituted by the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana, Professor Ebenezer Oduro Owusu, who is on a mission to ensure that students passing through the University of Ghana’s hands graduate with not just mere degrees but are also well equipped to survive and thrive in a digitised work environment. A team from the Operations and Management.

Information Systems (OMIS) department led by Prof. Richard Boateng, secured the funds for this project.
The refurbishment of the computer lounge was funded by Rock City Hotel Ghana and executed by Siaw Home Improvement and Construction. The ceremony began by with an opening prayer by the Assistant Registrar, Mrs. Selina Saaka. The School Administrator, Mr. Emmanuel Poku-Sarkodee, moderated the event, with introductions of the Dean of the Business School, Prof. Justice N. Bawole; the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ebenezer Oduro Owusu; the Provost of the College of Humanities, Prof. Daniel Frimpong Ofori; and the Assistant Managing Director of Rock City Hotel, Mrs. Anita Boakye, who all expressed their admiration at the Business School’s resolve to complete this edifice and make it functional to aid teaching and learning,

especially in an era of a global health crisis that has necessitated the use of online resources for the provision of world-class tuition to students worldwide.

The Vice-Chancellor charged the Business School, as well as other colleges of the university, to do more to ensure that University of Ghana students receive the best tuition they can get which will enable them to compete with students from top universities the world over. The Vice-Chancellor cut the ribbon to officially open the facility and unveiled a plaque to end the inauguration ceremony. This was followed by a tour of the facility by all persons present.
