2019 edition of UPAC Basketball Championship commences at University of Ghana

The 2019 edition of the Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship kicked off on Friday 12th April 2019 at the University of Ghana basketball courts with the quarterfinals.

Defending champions, University of Ghana (UG), beat Takoradi Technical University (TTU) 44-42 in the opening game after trailing by 15 in the first quarter.

Silver medalists in last year’s competition, Marshalls University, lost all their matches in Group B to be eliminated from the competition.

Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology (KNUST) beat Accra Technical University (ATU) 32-38 in their first match. Catholic University College also lost all matches and was also eliminated from the tournament.

UG ended the day after winning all 3 matches and qualified for the semi-finals as Group A leaders.

TTU finished second in the same group. In Group B, KNUST qualified along with ATU for the semi-finals.

Radford University, Koforidua Technical University, Catholic University and Marshalls University have been eliminated.

UG faces Accra Technical on Saturday, 13th April 2019 in the first match of the semi-finals with KNUST taking on Takoradi Technical in the second match.

Matches will begin at 9 am.
