With reference to the directive to consolidate all accounts into a centralized account to be supervised by the Dean of Students, hence an urgent need for colleges to establish a SENATE which will comprise senators directly elected from various classes under a College.
We want to make it clear that we are disappointed and amazed learning from the poorest form of communication and publicity of the entire process of establishing these senates for various colleges on the part of some executive committees of the colleges in question.
We do not want to believe that students from these colleges have no right to information and that only selected few gets to decide for the whole student populace in a particular college.
The framers must bear in mind that, the representatives in the senate will derive their powers from the students in a particular class under a college.
A SENATE is the most remarkable body of all inventions in modern student politics and will need a reasonable public attention on several constitutional decisions that must lead to important and enduring features of a senate such as Size, term of Office, Constituency and others that needs public views and opinions.
We are by this press release asking all the framers to actively involve the students in their various colleges in the process immediately to foster values such as deliberation, reflection, continuity and stability in establishing these senates such that the good people in our various colleges will be well informed, familiar with the qualifications senators have to meet before getting elected to ensure each SENATE in a college has seasoned and experience senators for effective services.
