The SRC Parliamentary Council as part of its 10th Anniversary paid a courtesy call on the Vice Chancellor and his team on Tuesday,5th February,2019 . The visit was led by the Acting Dean of Students,Prof. William Agyare, Speaker of Parliament,Rt. Honourable Benjamin Kissi Sasu, SRC President Kelvin Sah, together with some parliamentarians.
The purpose of the visit was to describe the structures and functions of the SRC Parliament and also to seek some advise from the Vice Chancellor and his team on how to improve upon the structure of the parliamentary council and student governance in general. The Speaker also use d the opportunity to inform him on the activities for the 10th Anniversary celebration and called for support from management. He explained that the anniversary to them is a moment to have a retrospection and learn from the past ,focus on current issue and prepare for a better future . The Vice Chancellor received the delegation warmly.
He then advised that “as student leaders ,it is our responsibility to impact society positively and also try to put the university in a positive light at all times”
He encouraged the delegation to continue working with their College Provosts and feel free to ask for their help anytime they need their assistance. He also asked the Provosts of the various colleges to extend a helping hand to student leaders.
There were Provosts of College of Agriculture & Natural Resources,College of Science, College of Humanities & Social Sciences, College of Engineering and College of Arts & Built Environment present . Provost of College Science,Prof. Ibok Oduro advised student leaders to be of good standards in everything and asked for a long term strategic plan for student governance to be made.
The VC & his team addressed a few more issues on academics & accommodation. He thanked the Speaker of the SRC Parliament and his delegation for their visit.
