KNUST SRC executives visit off – campus residents to monitor conditions

The KNUST Student Representative Council on Saturday, 19th of October, 2019 payed off-campus first year residents a visit to monitor the progress of their stay. The entourage lead by the Welfare Chairman, Mr. Wahid Fatawu visited a number of immediate and far hostels off-campus to listen to the plight of residents and to see possible measures to address concerns.

The ABC lead administration through the office of the welfare commission has taken up the task to see to it that off campus residents are not neglected, serene environment within the confides of these hostels off campus are met by hostel managers.

The exercise which started at 9:30 Am and ended at 2:30 Pm saw 11 hostels covered.  Some hostels visited were Think Jesus, Honesty, CEPOS, Anglican, Amen, Nevada, Wilkado among others. Issues drawn from the 5 hours exercise were poor manager-student’s relationship, means of transport in and out campus especially on week days, issues of flooding when it rains, lack of study rooms in some hostels, just to mention a few.

However according to the Welfare Chair, issues of immediate attention were attended to and the others noted for follow ups and resolution.

Mr. Wahid Fatawu was on the visit with the Deputy Welfare Chair, Salifu Ibrahim,  Head of Security, Mr. Abdul Salam and Hostel Manager, Mr. Abid Nkrumah and other executives.
