With calls for donations to aid students with various medical ailment diagnosis rife on KNUST campus, the KNUST SRC Parliament has done the needful by passing the SRC Health Support Bill into Law. The bill was passed into law on Saturday, February 20, 2021.
The Act was followed by a comprehensive expository communique on what the SRC Health Support Act is and how students could exploit this avenue to cater for a myriad of health support needs.
The steps to apply for support from the SRC Health Support Act are as follows:
Mode of application
1. Application for the health support fund shall be in writing through the departments or colleges executives and addressed to the health support fund committee and submitted at the SRC Secretariat.
2. The applicant shall attach a copy of their medical report stating the total cost of treatment.”
The SRC Health Support Act is expected to be funded by “budgetary allocations from the SRC coffers, other solicited financial support and a cell account created within the SRC Account.”
The Health Support Act goes a long way to cut cost and also burden on students who suffer from sudden health issues on campus as well as those battling chronic illnesses with no way of mitigating medical expenses for such health issues.
