The University of Science and Technology, on Tuesday, February 9 2021 held a virtual Matriculation to induct fresh students of the 2020/2021 academic year into the University.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Rita Dickson formally conferred on fresh students’ junior members in statu populari of the University.  

The Vice Chancellor, in her address to fresh students also highlighted the statistics for the 2020/2021 academic year admissions.

The University received a total of 68, 209 undergraduate and postgraduate applications for the 2020/2021 academic year. Out of skyrocketing applications received, 54,009 of them qualified for admission of which 28,479 undergraduate and postgraduate students have been registered so far by the University. She further pointed that, the 28,479 students admitted so far are made of 17,438 males representing 61% and 11, 041 females representing 39%.

BREAKDOWN FROM THE SIX COLLEGES AND IDL.

The college of humanities and social sciences admitted 5,576 students with 2,937 males and 2639 females.

The college of health recorded the least number of male absorptions, 1,373 and 2,068 females whereas the college of engineering absorbed 737 females as against 3,137 males respectively.

The Institute of Distance Learning by far absorbed majority of freshmen; 6,991 with 4,251 males and 2,740 females.
