The much anticipated State of SRC Address (SOSA18′) was held yesterday, the 7th of October, 2018
Hypercitigh.com takes a look at the highlights of Mr. Kelvin Sah’s address
He touched on all the aspects of students life, from Conti-Katanga hall conversion brouhaha to sports
Minute silence was observed for the deceased USAG pageants and the SRC hostel resident
Mr. Sah in his address gave insight into the conti-katanga hall conversion, elucidating how his outfit took to several means to resist the decision by the university management

▪There have been attempts over the last two academic years to increase the fees but we had to step in to resist the move.
We meet with the Minister of Education together with all other SRC presidents across the country. The bill is currently before parliament
▪Mr. Sah hinted that a meeting has been scheduled with the Vice Chancellor, the leadership of the International Students Association together with Sah would have a discourse with regards to the wide fee margin between Ghanaian Students and International Students
▪The Ministry of finance has directed all government institutions to have a centralized account to ensure effective monitoring.Hence KNUST has its accounts centralized to conform with national policy directions
▪Skills fair has commerced, eleven (11) courses have been selected. Each student is limited to enroll into two (2) of these courses
▪Next phase of Tratech ‘goods market’ is a Start-Up school for student entrepreneurs
▪Carrier Fair to take place across all six (6) Colleges for 2days
▪Tektalk is back this Saturday, October 13th at the CCB Auditorium. For the first time former president Jerry John Rawlings shall grace the occasion together with Mr . Benjamin Kumbour and Nana Ama Anamoah
▪Motivational Library to be set up soon to add value to the lives of students
▪Google Training program is also in the pipeline
▪Trail Support Scheme is in place
▪Free language classes has started and has enrolled over (300) students. Enrolled Students would learn french and Chinese for free
▪Soft Skills to be added to finalists curricular to be able to compete internationally
▪We are arranging to have a third semester portal for students to register and pay for their trailed courses and only report on the day of examination.
▪In response to the WiFi instability, Mr. Sah remarked that, new routers have been procured by UITS, the old ones are been replaced, and by the end of October WiFi on campus would be stabilized
▪NHIS registration to take place at designated halls of residence and Hostels
▪Upon negotiations, health care at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital is free for KNUST students
▪There is a move to start a recycling plant here in KNUST, this would help improve upon waste management
▪Access control gate shall be fixed at KSB wall to ease movement
▪Random verification of students ID to commerce soon at odd times to ensure students are protected at all times
▪There has been an increase in KNUST security personnels in the bid to protect students
▪The Campride App is now on Google play store, students can now monitor the shuttle movement to ease the discomfort of having to queue for buses

▪Instituting of a People Assembly, we would be meeting with each constituency to serve as an avenue to get closer to the people. Grievances and issues can be best expressed and appreciated
▪We meet with the Vice chancellor with regards to the Sports facility (Paa Joe) Henceforth students associations wouldn’t have to pay to use the facility
