The leadership of the Students Representative Council (SRC) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has organised free health screening for residents of Ayeduase in Kumasi.

The health screening took place on Monday, January 20th at the Ayeduase Chief Palace forecourt between the hours of 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.

Mr. Ebenezer Kwesi Biney, the SRC Health Officer, told Hypercitigh.com that the initiative was part of efforts by the SRC to support the residents, who could not afford medical care to check their health status. “This is like a new year gift from the SRC to the community”, he noted.

He said beneficiaries were screened for basic illnesses such as hepatitis, hypertension and random blood sugar test.

Also, earlier on Saturday 25th January, the SRC through the sports commission with partnership from the Knust Entrepreneurship club had an aerobics and health screening for students to give them a healthy head start ahead of the long semester.

The SRC Health Officer said the outreach allowed many residents to check their health status and get the medical team to educate them on their health and other hygienic practices.
