#UGDecides: We will broaden fund base of SRC ‘Yibi Boa’ scholarship within first 30 days of administration – Team Felix, Paul Andam

Presidential and Vice Presidential Aspirant of the University of Ghana Students Representative Council (UGSRC) Felix Twiah Ayittah and Paul Andam have promised to broaden the fund base of the SRC’s ‘Yibi Boa’ scholarship within the first thirty days of their administration to accommodate 200 more students.

The team in their policy document stated that they are going to among other activities, organize fundraising dinners to help broaden the fund base of the SRC scholarship when they get the chance to lead the student body in the 2021/2022 academic year.

“Broaden the fund base of the SRC Yibi Boa Scholarship Scheme to accommodate 200 more students to add up to the existing number. This initiative is to enable needy but brilliant students to acquire the needed financial support to aid them to fund their academic fees. This shall not fully be funded by the student dues but will be augmented by support from corporate bodies and the university’s alumni. We shall organize fundraising dinners and events to attract the corporate world as well as send proposals to established individuals, philanthropists, and NGOs.”

Speaking at the SRC aspirants vetting on Saturday, July 31, 2021, the team stated that when voted into power, they are going to purchase some microphones, fans, and projectors for some lecture halls including JQB, KAB, and NB.

Among other policies, Team Felix Ayittah and Paul Andam have promised to equip the University of Ghana Central Cadet Corps to complement to aid in enhancing security on campus.

“Establish, commission, and equip the University of Ghana Central cadet corps to complement the numbers of the security personnel of the university. This shall be done under the auspices of the intelligence committee of the SRC, the university’s sports directorate, the national cadet corps, and the Ghana armed forces. Students will be trained with the basic military, defense, and security skills that will enable them to protect themselves. This program is aimed at ensuring the physical, mental and health wellbeing of the student populace as its members will be employed to continuously involve in exercising activities that at long-run benefits the health.”

The Electoral Commission of the SRC is expected to announce the vetting results on Monday, August 2, 2021.
