Jonelle Mate-Kodjo also stated in her policy document that she does not intend to be a General Secretary that is only recognized by her signature on communiques. Her job, she said, is to work tirelessly in the interest of students.
“I do not intend to be a General Secretary who would only be recognized by my signature on communiques, neither do I want to be one whose recognition only comes by virtue of my name being inscribed on the SRC letterhead. As a student representative elected to do nothing but work tirelessly in the interest of students, I intend to execute my duties to the very best of my abilities and be as visible to each and every student.”
Among other policies, Jonelle has promised to put together a team of student researchers and technical experts to create a “student-friendly” app where students can have access to every important information on campus.
“There has always been the need for a singular place where students can easily access all these information with just a click of a button. My major policy, therefore, as an aspiring General Secretary is to create an SRC student app where students within the University community can readily access information pertaining to their academics, residence, extra-curricular etc. I intend to constitute a team of student researchers and technical experts who would brainstorm to come up with an easily accessible, student-friendly app where each and every student can have access to all information relating to their stay on campus.”
The Electoral Commission of the SRC is expected to announce the vetting results on Monday, August 2, 2021.
